Holbox: Boat Trip

For the long weekend I was lucky enough to go to Isla Holbox aka PARADISE. You can get there on a ferry from the tiny town Chiquilá, about 3 hours from Cancun.

On the first day we took a tour in lancha to visit a few places around the island. First of all Yalahau, a beautiful cenote whose fresh water bubbling up from the ground is supposed to make you look 10 years younger.

Next our guide took us to a teeny tiny island called Isla de los Pajaros (in the cover photo above) where we saw flamingos, pelicans and lots more feathery friends.

The boat trip was lovely, the cenote refreshing and the island beautiful but there was trouble in paradise – the island is swarming with mosquitos! Advice: take a tonne of repellent.
