Vaqueria Yucateca

On Sundays in the main square outside the Palacio Municipal you can see a beautiful selection of dances from the vaqueria yucateca tradition.  La vaqueria, like most Yucatecan traditions, is a blend of Spanish and Mayan beliefs. It originated as a dance linked to the harvest season at the haciendas and it is danced to jarana yuctateca music, with the dancers wearing traditional yucatecan clothing.

You’ll never see a happier and smilier group of dancers and an audience that literally can’t stop smiling!
