Mérida Carnaval 2015

Last weekend I spent the day at the Carnival of Merida, which in total lasts 4 or 5 days. It takes place outside the city in Xmatkuil.

The Carnaval is a wild collection of music, colour, food and drink, dancing, laughter and hot, hot sun shining down.

The main attraction is the carnival procession that happens each day, winding around the enormous fair ground. Here are some photos of the various floats and people involved in the show:
