A few weeks ago, we were lucky enough to spend a night at a hotel near this fantastic beach, not far from Puerto Morelos in Quintana Roo. It is a wide, sweeping white sand beach with Caribbean turquoise water and unspoilt scenery.
It was really special to drive down the narrow road from the hotel to the beach, park in the jungle and then walk down the shady, green, jungle path and find this jewel of a beach waiting for us! I’ll never not have that ‘wow’ feeling when I see the colours of the Mexican Caribbean sea.
We stayed at a beautiful hotel called Hotel Amarte. It is located just off the main highway between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, but you wouldn’t know – there isn’t any traffic noise. The rooms are all individual cabins, with lovely wide porches with hammocks, overlooking a pool. The paths between the buildings wind through beautiful gardens. It was so peaceful. I would totally recommend it as a place to stop for a night or so for some R and R, especially considering the beach access to Maroma Bay!
